Ingredients

  • 6 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 medium ripe Bartlett pears, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel

Instructions

  1. Combine apples and water in a 2-quart microwave-safe casserole dish with a lid.
  2. Cover and microwave on High for 4 minutes or until apples and pears are tender, stirring halfway through cooking time.
  3. Stir in sugar, lemon peel, and cinnamon.
  4. Cover and microwave on High for 2 to 4 minutes until sugar dissolves.
  5. Stir well before serving.
