Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground round
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 3 fresh carrots
  • 1 medium onion
  • 10 oz frozen broccoli
  • 10 oz frozen corn
  • 10 oz frozen green beans
  • 15 oz can crowder peas
  • 15 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • about 3 cups water
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Saute ground round in an 8-quart pot with chopped onion until browned.
  2. Add shredded cabbage and cook until tender, adding water as needed.
  3. Add spices (salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, basil, thyme) and stir into the meat and cabbage mixture.
  4. Dice carrots and add to the pot.
  5. Add 2 cups of water, cover with a lid, and cook until carrots are tender.
  6. Add green beans, broccoli, and corn; cook until vegetables are tender.
  7. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, 1 cup water, and crowder peas.
  8. Stir well and simmer on low-medium heat for 1 to 2 hours.
  9. Adjust water and spices as needed before serving.
