- Saute ground round in an 8-quart pot with chopped onion until browned.
- Add shredded cabbage and cook until tender, adding water as needed.
- Add spices (salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, basil, thyme) and stir into the meat and cabbage mixture.
- Dice carrots and add to the pot.
- Add 2 cups of water, cover with a lid, and cook until carrots are tender.
- Add green beans, broccoli, and corn; cook until vegetables are tender.
- Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, 1 cup water, and crowder peas.
- Stir well and simmer on low-medium heat for 1 to 2 hours.
- Adjust water and spices as needed before serving.
