- Combine gelatine with 1/4 cup applesauce and let set for 5 minutes.
- In a saucepan, combine all ingredients except nuts.
- Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the gelatine mixture to the boiling ingredients.
- Boil for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add chopped walnuts just before removing from heat.
- Pour the mixture into a buttered and powdered sugar-dusted 8 x 10-inch pan.
- Let stand until firm.
- Cut into squares and shake in a sack of powdered sugar to coat.
