  5. Sprinkle with coconut and chopped nuts.
  6. Roll up the dough from the 6-inch side as for a jelly roll.
  7. Place the rolled dough on an ungreased baking sheet.

Tips & Substitutions

When blending the flour and butter, ensure the mixture is crumbly for the best texture. If you prefer a nut-free version, you can substitute the chopped nuts with additional coconut or use oats. For added flavor, consider incorporating a teaspoon of vanilla extract into the dough. Remember to chill the dough thoroughly to make it easier to roll out.

Serving Suggestions

These apricot slices are delightful on their own or served with a dollop of whipped cream for added indulgence. They pair beautifully with a cup of tea or coffee, making them a perfect afternoon snack. For an extra touch, serve alongside a fresh fruit salad or a scoop of vanilla ice cream to complement the flavors.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover apricot slices in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. If you want them to last longer, refrigerate them for up to a week. To reheat, simply warm them in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 10 minutes, ensuring they remain soft and delicious.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of jam?

Absolutely! While apricot jam is traditional, you can experiment with other fruit jams like peach, raspberry, or even fig. Just ensure the jam is spreadable to maintain the integrity of the filling while rolling the dough.

How can I ensure my apricot slices are evenly baked?

To achieve even baking, make sure to roll each piece of dough to a uniform thickness. Additionally, rotating the baking sheet halfway through the baking time can help achieve a golden brown color on all sides.

Can I make the dough ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the dough ahead of time! After blending the ingredients, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. This makes it convenient for a quick bake when you're ready to enjoy these apricot slices.
