Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3 cups pared and diced apples

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together sugar and margarine until well combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition.
  4. Stir in buttermilk until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, soda, and cinnamon.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, mixing well.
  7. Fold in diced apples.
  8. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch cake pan.
  9. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool before frosting.
