Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. cubed chuck
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 large potatoes, diced
  • 3 carrots, quartered
  • 1 Tbsp. A.1. sauce
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • dash garlic salt
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. Brown the cubed chuck meat in oil.
  2. Add enough water to cover the meat and cook for about 1 hour.
  3. Add diced potatoes, quartered carrots, chopped onion, bay leaf, garlic salt, beef bouillon cubes, and A.1. sauce.
  4. Continue cooking until vegetables are tender.
  5. In 1 tablespoon of oil, brown 2 tablespoons of flour.
  6. Add 1 cup water to the flour and stir to make gravy.
  7. Simmer the gravy for 2 minutes over low heat.
  8. Add the gravy to the meat and vegetables and stir well.
  9. Pour the mixture into a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish.
  10. Top with a can of biscuits.
  11. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until biscuits are done, about 15 minutes.
