Instructions
- Melt butter and 1 cup sugar in a heavy iron skillet.
- Pour slowly over remaining sugar and cream.
- Cook to a firm boil stage (246°F), stirring constantly to prevent burning.
- Remove from heat. Add baking soda and stir.
- Add butter and cool for 10 minutes. Add vanilla and beat until stiff.
- Blend in pecans.
- Pour into a greased pan and cut into squares.
