Ingredients

  • 1 (3 oz.) pkg. lemon jello
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. grated onion
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded mild Cheddar cheese
  • 2 or 3 c. diced pared apples
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped celery and/or green pepper
  • 1 c. whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Make jello according to package directions.
  2. Cool slightly and add sour cream, lemon juice, grated onion, and salt.
  3. Beat until smooth and chill until partly set.
  4. Fold in shredded Cheddar cheese, diced apples, and chopped celery or green pepper.
  5. Fold in whipped cream.
  6. Spoon into a 6 to 6 1/2-cup mold.
  7. Chill until firm.
  8. Unmold on lettuce and trim with lemon-brushed apple slices, if desired.
