Ingredients

  • 1 country ham
  • 2 qt. water
  • 1 c. molasses

Instructions

  1. Soak the ham in cold water for 24 hours.
  2. Remove the ham from water and place it in a roaster pan.
  3. Mix 2 quarts of water with 1 cup of molasses and pour the mixture over the ham.
  4. Cover the ham with two layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil and place the lid on the roaster.
  5. Preheat the oven to 500°F.
  6. Bake the ham for 30 minutes.
  7. Turn off the oven and leave the ham inside for 3 hours.
  8. Turn the oven back on and let it reach 500°F again, then bake for another 30 minutes.
  9. Turn off the oven and leave the ham overnight, starting at 2:00 PM.
  10. Do not open the oven after starting.
