Barbecue Beef (Pork)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. beef or pork in 1/2-inch cubes
  • 2 Tbsp. fat
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 c. diced celery
  • 1 c. catsup
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. chili powder

Instructions

  1. Brown meat in hot fat and add water.
  2. Cover and cook 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
  3. Reserve broth.
  4. Add enough water to make 2/3 cup.
  5. Shred meat with fork.
  6. Cook onion and celery until tender.
  7. Add beef broth and remaining ingredients.
  8. Simmer, uncovered, for 20 to 30 minutes or until desired consistency. Good to freeze.
