Ingredients

  • 12 small white onions, peeled
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • pinch of pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 4 slices bacon

Instructions

  1. Parboil the onions for 4 to 5 minutes, then drain.
  2. Place the onions in a buttered, shallow, 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  3. Mix the catsup, water, vinegar, salt, and pepper, then spread the mixture over the onions.
  4. Sprinkle the mixture with brown sugar and top with the cooked, crisp bacon slices.
