Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, soda, and salt together.
  2. Stir to blend the dry ingredients.
  3. Melt shortening in a 2-quart saucepan.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Add sugar, eggs, peanut butter, vanilla, nuts, and chocolate chips in order.
  6. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  7. Spread the batter in a greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes.
