Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground meat
  • 3 onions, sliced
  • 1/3 cup medium pearl barley
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 3 potatoes, diced
  • 3 stalks celery, diced

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground meat in a large pot and drain well.
  2. Add onions, pearl barley, tomatoes, salt, seasoned salt, pepper, carrots, potatoes, and celery to the pot, along with 1.5 quarts of water.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for an additional hour.
  5. Serve hot, yielding approximately 3 quarts or 6 servings.
