- Slice the red onion and separate into rings. Layer the lettuce and onion rings on the platter.
- Combine 1/3 cup sour cream, 3 teaspoons of sugar, and enough milk to thin the mixture; drizzle over the lettuce and onions.
- Mix the mayonnaise, remaining 3 teaspoons of sugar, and enough milk to thin the mixture; set aside.
- Sprinkle the sliced mushrooms, crumbled bacon, and grated Parmesan cheese over the layered salad.
- Do not pre-mix the two dressings or toss the salad. Chill for at least 3 hours before serving.
