Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Grease a 1 1/2-quart loaf pan or baking dish.
  2. Butter and toast the bread slices.
  3. Cut the toasted bread into squares and layer them in the baking dish. Sprinkle raisins over the bread.
  4. Mix eggs, sugar, salt (if using), boiling water, evaporated milk, and vanilla; pour over the bread and let stand for 10 minutes.
  5. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 4 teaspoons of sugar; sprinkle over the top of the bread pudding.
  6. Bake in a 350°F oven for 30 minutes.
