- Rinse the pinto beans thoroughly.
- Cover the beans with 12 cups of water and bring to a boil, then boil for 15 minutes.
- Drain the beans and refill with fresh water, then bring to a boil again.
- Saute chopped onion and minced garlic until wilted.
- Add the sautéed onions and garlic to the boiling beans.
- Cook the beans with the onions and garlic on medium heat for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Stir in 4 drops of Tabasco sauce and add the crisp-fried bacon strips.
- Cook everything together for another 15 minutes or until done.
