Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/3 cup liquid vegetable oil
  • 2/3 cup low-fat milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Measure flour and baking powder into a 1-quart bowl.
  2. Measure 1/3 cup liquid oil into a 1-cup measure; 2/3 cup low-fat milk will then just fill the 1-cup measure.
  3. Pour the liquid mixture into the center of the flour mixture.
  4. Mix as little as possible until the dough leaves the sides of the bowl.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured breadboard.
  6. Press out to about 1/2-inch thick.
  7. Cut with a cutter.
  8. Bake on an ungreased baking sheet in a preheated 425°F oven for about 10 to 12 minutes, longer if more browning is desired or if a larger cutter was used.
