Ingredients

  • 3 c. white sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/3 c. corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 can Eagle Brand condensed milk
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 1 c. nuts (pecans or walnuts)

Instructions

  1. Combine white sugar, salt, corn syrup, vanilla, condensed milk, and margarine in a 3-quart saucepan.
  2. Place over medium heat and stir continuously as the mixture sticks easily.
  3. Cook until a firm ball forms in cold water, approximately 10-15 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
  5. Add nuts and beat until the mixture is thick and well blended.
  6. Pour into a buttered 12 x 12-inch pan.
  7. Cool and cut into squares.
