Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream the egg and sugar together; add melted butter.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. Add half of the buttermilk to the creamed mixture, then add half of the flour mixture.
  4. Repeat the process with the remaining buttermilk and flour mixture until combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped nuts.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased bread pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
