Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon summer savory
  • 1 package RapidRise yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons oleo
  • 1 cup shredded carrots

Instructions

  1. Over low heat, heat milk, water, and oleo until hot (125°).
  2. Stir the heated mixture into the flour mixture containing flour, carrots, wheat germ, sugar, salt, savory, and yeast.
  3. Mix to form a soft dough and let rise for 10 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into 3 equal pieces.
  5. Roll each piece into a 15-inch rope.
  6. Braid the three ropes together and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Let the braided dough rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes.
