Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. water

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, salt, and active dry yeast in a bowl.
  2. Warm the milk and add it to the yeast mixture.
  3. Add eggs, melted butter, and water to the mixture and stir well.
  4. Gradually add flour and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  5. Allow the dough to rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Divide the dough into three equal parts and roll each into a long rope.
  7. Braid the three ropes together and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Let the braided dough rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. Bake the bread for 25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Remove from oven and cool slightly before serving.
