Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb. round steak
  • flour
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 tsp. instant beef bouillon
  • 6 carrots

Instructions

  1. Dredge the round steak in flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
  2. In a Dutch oven, melt butter over medium heat and brown the steak on both sides.
  3. Add water and instant beef bouillon to the Dutch oven, stirring to combine.
  4. Place carrots and celery around the steak in the Dutch oven.
  5. Cover and braise on low heat or over campfire coals for about 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
  6. Serve hot with the vegetables and broth.
