Ingredients

  • 2 cups Nabisco Bran
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup Crisco shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 5 cups flour
  • 4 cups Nabisco Bran
  • 5 teaspoons soda

Instructions

  1. Mix in order: combine the 100% Nabisco Bran and boiling water in a large covered bowl and refrigerate.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients: shortening, sugar, eggs, flour, additional bran, and soda, mixing well.
  3. Do not restir the batter once refrigerated; it can be stored up to 5 weeks.
  4. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 20 minutes until golden brown.
