Ingredients

  • 1 gallon sliced cucumbers
  • 3 onions
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 5 cups vinegar
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons celery seed

Instructions

  1. Take the sliced cucumbers, onions, and salt and soak for 4 hours in water.
  2. Drain the mixture.
  3. Prepare the vinegar, sugar, ground cloves, turmeric, celery seed, and mustard seed.
  4. Heat the solution and place cucumbers and onions in it, bringing to a boil.
  5. Turn the heat to simmer and cook for about 20-30 minutes until they lose their green color.
  6. Pack the hot mixture into jars and seal.
  7. Boil the jars' flats for a few minutes before serving.
