- In a small mixer bowl, combine 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour, the yeast, caraway seed or pepper, and salt.
- Add hot water (125° to 130°F) and cooking oil to the mixture.
- Beat with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl constantly.
- Beat on high speed for 3 minutes.
- Stir in the whole-wheat flour and as much of the remaining all-purpose flour as you can.
