Ingredients

  • 6 slices bread
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Dice the bread and place it in a shallow buttered 1-quart baking dish.
  2. Heat the milk and margarine until melted, then add sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  3. Beat the eggs and add them to the milk mixture while stirring.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread in the dish.
  5. Add raisins and cinnamon, then stir to combine.
  6. Set the dish in a pan with hot water to half the depth of the dish.
  7. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 50 minutes.
