Ingredients

  • 1 box raisins
  • 1 Tbsp. Crisco
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Cook raisins in water for 15 minutes.
  2. Drain and reserve one cup of the liquid.
  3. Let raisins cool.
  4. Cream shortening and sugar together.
  5. Add egg and cooled raisins to the creamed mixture.
  6. Mix all ingredients together thoroughly.
  7. Add vanilla extract and the reserved liquid to the batter.
