Brie En Croute

A rich, flaky pastry filled with creamy brie and savory mushrooms, perfect as an elegant appetizer or party centerpiece for cheese lovers.

Ingredients

  • 15 oz. mini brie
  • 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms
  • 1 Tbsp. Madeira or dry sherry
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Saute the mushrooms in butter and Madeira until tender and they give up their juices.
  2. Drain the mushrooms and set aside.
  3. Slice the brie in half horizontally.
  4. Place half the mushrooms between the slices of brie.
  5. Put the brie back together and top with the remaining mushrooms.
  6. Wrap the assembled brie and mushrooms in the puff pastry sheet.
  7. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg mixed with water.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
