Broiled Short Ribs

Tender, flavorful short ribs glazed with a tangy ketchup and molasses sauce, broiled to perfection—ideal for hearty gatherings or comforting family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 lb. beef short ribs
  • 2/3 c. ketchup
  • 1/4 c. light molasses
  • 1/4 c. lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • dash garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the ribs.
  2. Sprinkle the ribs with salt and pepper. Place in a Dutch oven.
  3. Add water to cover the ribs and simmer, covered, for about 2 hours or until the meat is tender.
  4. Drain the ribs and place them on an unheated rack in a broiler pan.
  5. Combine ketchup, molasses, lemon juice, dry mustard, chili powder, and garlic powder to make the sauce.
  6. Brush some of the sauce over the ribs.
  7. Broil the ribs 4-5 inches from the heat for 10-15 minutes, turning often and basting with the sauce.
