Ingredients

  • 1 lb. boneless stewing beef
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • flour
  • drippings or other fat
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 potatoes, diced
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 3 carrots, diced

Instructions

  1. Cut the beef into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Sprinkle the beef with salt and pepper. Roll in flour.
  3. Brown the beef in drippings or fat.
  4. Add water, cover, and simmer until the beef is almost tender, about 2 to 3 hours.
  5. Add diced potatoes, sliced onions, and diced carrots.
  6. Season with salt and pepper and continue to simmer until vegetables are done, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add raw peas towards the end of cooking and cook until heated through.
