Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon melted shortening
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs until light.
  2. Add powdered sugar and melted shortening; blend well.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together (flour, baking powder, salt).
  4. Add chopped dates, nuts, and vanilla; blend well.
  5. Pour batter into a greased baking pan.
  6. Bake at 325°F for 25 minutes.
  7. Cut into bars and roll in powdered sugar.
