Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream butter and light brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine cake flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture.
  6. Stir in vanilla flavoring and chopped pecans until evenly incorporated.
  7. Pour batter into a greased 8 x 2-inch pan.
  8. Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool slightly, then cut into squares while warm.
  10. Optional: lightly sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
