Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup oleo
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups peeled apples, finely chopped
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Lightly spoon flour into a cup; level off.
  3. In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and oleo, then stir in chopped nuts.
  4. Press two-thirds of the mixture into an ungreased 13 x 9-inch pan to form the base.
  5. To the remaining mixture, add vanilla, peeled apples, sour cream, egg, salt, and soda; mix well.
  6. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the base.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden and set.
  8. Cut into squares and serve with whipped cream.
