Ingredients

  • 4 cans butter beans
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • 1 medium onion
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Dice the bacon and fry it with the chopped onion until done.
  2. Don't drain the fat off the bacon and onions, as this adds flavor.
  3. Place the drained butter beans in a large pan.
  4. Add the cooked bacon and onion, brown sugar, ketchup, salt, and pepper to the beans.
  5. Cook on low heat until the mixture thickens, about 1 hour.
