- Heat 3 to 4 inches of oil to 375°F in a deep fryer.
- Measure 1 1/2 cups of flour and combine with the remaining ingredients in a large bowl. Blend for 30 seconds on low speed, scraping the bowl occasionally.
- Stir in the remaining flour. Turn the dough onto a well-floured surface and lightly coat with flour.
- Gently roll the dough to 3/8-inch thickness.
- Cut the dough with a floured doughnut cutter.
- Slide the doughnuts into the hot oil using a wide spatula. Turn them as they rise to the surface.
- Fry for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown.
- Carefully remove from the oil and drain.
- Serve plain, sugared, or frosted.
