Ingredients

  • 1 medium white cabbage
  • 1 cup tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1/4 cup cheese, grated (Romano or Parmesan)
  • 3/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook chopped onion and cabbage in hot olive oil for about 10 minutes.
  2. Add fennel seed, quartered tomatoes, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cover and cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Pour in red wine and lemon juice.
  5. Cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Serve sprinkled with grated cheese.
