Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 to 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 small cabbage, grated
  • 3 cans tomato soup
  • or 2 cans tomato soup and 15 oz chopped or stewed tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Brown the chopped onion and ground beef in a skillet, then drain excess fat.
  2. Mix the cooked rice, grated cabbage, tomato soup or stewed tomatoes, brown sugar, and cooked beef with onion in a bowl.
  3. Pour the mixture into a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  4. Sprinkle caraway seeds evenly over the top.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 45 minutes until heated through and bubbly.
