Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/3 cups oil
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 cups cold water

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a mixing bowl.
  2. Pour the batter into two greased 8-inch round cake pans.
  3. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Allow to cool before removing from pans.
  5. Optional: frost or decorate as desired.
  6. For cupcakes, fill cupcake liners and bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 350°F.
