Ingredients
- 1 lb. crab meat ⓘ
- 1/4 lb. bacon ⓘ
- 4 to 5 large potatoes, pared and diced ⓘ
- 2 to 3 large onions, diced ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 c. water ⓘ
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. celery salt ⓘ
- 1 pt. half and half ⓘ
- 1 pt. milk ⓘ
- 4 to 8 drops hot pepper sauce ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. freshly cracked pepper ⓘ
- 2 to 4 tsp. chopped fresh parsley ⓘ
Instructions
- Saute bacon in a large heavy saucepan until crisp.
- Remove bacon from pan and set aside.
- Cook potatoes and onions in bacon grease until golden brown.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, water, salt, and celery salt; cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Stir frequently during simmering.
- Add crab meat, half and half, milk, and hot sauce; simmer for an additional 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Add extra milk if the stew becomes too thick.
- Serve in large bowls topped with cracker pepper and chopped parsley.
