Decadent caramel chocolate cookie bars feature a rich combination of caramel, chocolate, and pecans, perfect for sharing at parties or satisfying sweet cravings.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 10 oz. light caramels
  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon evaporated milk
  • 3/4 cup margarine, melted
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Melt evaporated milk and caramels together until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Mix cake mix, 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon evaporated milk, and melted margarine to form a dough.
  3. Press slightly more than half of the mixture into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
  4. Bake for 6 minutes at 350°F.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped pecans over the baked layer.
  6. Spread the caramel mixture over this layer.
  7. Crumble the remaining cake mixture on top.
  8. Bake until sides pull away from the pan, approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
