- Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.

- Press half of the dough into the prepared pan and bake for 6 to 8 minutes.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the baked crust.
- Spread the caramel mixture evenly over the chocolate chips.
- Crumble the remaining dough over the caramel layer.
- Bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until golden.
- Cool completely before cutting into squares.
