Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 (1 lb.) pkg. brown sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 1 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a heavy 3-quart saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add brown sugar, salt, and corn syrup; mix well.
  3. Gradually add condensed milk, stirring constantly.
  4. Cook until the mixture reaches 245° on a candy thermometer, firm ball stage.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  6. Pour into a buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Let stand until cool.
  8. Cut into squares.
