Ingredients

  • 1 large fryer chicken
  • 1 can cream of celery soup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups broth
  • 1 stick margarine, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the chicken until tender, then remove and shred the meat.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream of celery soup, salt, pepper, and broth.
  4. Combine shredded chicken with the soup mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder (if not using self-rising flour).
  6. Add milk and melted margarine to the dry ingredients to make a batter.
  7. Pour the chicken mixture into a greased baking dish.
  8. Spread the batter evenly over the chicken mixture.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 60 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
