- In a saucepan, bring water, bouillon granules, and salt to boiling.
- Stir in chopped carrots, rice, butter, and crushed thyme. Return to boiling.
- Transfer the mixture into a 2-quart casserole dish.
- Bake, covered, at 325°F for 25 minutes.
- Stir the mixture after baking.
- Sprinkle shredded American cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes until cheese is melted.
