Chafing Dish Mushrooms

Creamy, savory mushrooms cooked in butter with garlic and onions, finished with sour cream and paprika—perfect for appetizer platters or elegant side dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 lb. large mushrooms, stems removed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • paprika

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in an electric skillet at 250°F (121°C).
  2. Add mushroom caps, round side up, to the skillet.
  3. Sprinkle garlic salt over the mushrooms until completely covered; add chopped onions on top.
  4. Cover the skillet, leaving the vent open, and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Stir once during cooking.
  6. Drain excess butter from the mushrooms.
  7. Fold in sour cream and sprinkle with paprika before serving.
