Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups white flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2/3 cup water

Instructions

  1. Sift together the white flour, whole wheat flour, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of oil and 2/3 cup water to the flour mixture.
  3. Stir until the mixture forms a dough ball.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 3 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and form each into a ball.
  6. Roll each ball into a 6- to 7-inch circle, keeping them covered to prevent drying.
  7. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  8. Cook each chapati in the ungreased skillet for about 1 minute on each side until lightly browned.
  9. Stack the cooked chapatis and cover with a towel to keep warm.
  10. Serve immediately.
