Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. barbecue sauce
  • 1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Combine ground chuck, egg, salt, bread crumbs, and barbecue sauce in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Pat the meat mixture into a 14 x 8 inch rectangle on foil or wax paper.
  3. Mix shredded Cheddar cheese, dry bread crumbs, chopped green pepper, and water, then spread over the meat rectangle.
  4. Starting at the narrow end, roll the meat up to form a log.
  5. Chill the rolled meat for several hours or overnight.
  6. Slice the chilled meat into 6 to 8 servings.
  7. Lay the slices flat in a shallow pan or cookie sheet and bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
