Ingredients

  • 12 slices white bread
  • 8 eggs
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons minced parsley
  • 3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 2 cups ham, turkey, chicken, bacon, shrimp, onions, green peppers, or mushrooms (your choice of filling)

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Remove crust from bread and place one layer in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  3. Layer your choice of filling and half of the shredded cheese.
  4. Cover with the remaining slices of bread.
  5. Beat eggs, milk, parsley, dry mustard, and salt together and pour over the bread layers.
  6. Bake uncovered for 1 hour or until the center is set.
  7. Prior to baking completion, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top to allow for melting.
  8. Serve immediately.
  9. Can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator; add extra baking time as needed.
