Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 pint whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup halved or quartered maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
  • 2 liters lemon-lime soda

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs and milk together in a saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture through, but do not boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat and add sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and halved or quartered maraschino cherries.
  4. Chill until very cold, preferably overnight.
  5. When ready to serve, add the vanilla ice cream and very cold lemon-lime soda to a punch bowl.
  6. Pour the chilled egg nog over the mixture and serve.
