Ingredients

  • 2 cups canned dark sweet cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup cherry syrup and water
  • 1 (3 oz.) package cherry flavored gelatin
  • 3/4 cup sherry or Chianti wine
  • 40 tiny marshmallows or 10 large marshmallows, cut in quarters

Instructions

  1. Drain syrup from cherries and add water to make one cup.
  2. Bring the cherry syrup almost to boiling in a saucepan.
  3. Add the hot syrup to the cherry flavored gelatin, stirring until dissolved.
  4. Add sherry or Chianti wine to the gelatin mixture.
  5. Pour the mixture into an 8-inch ring mold and chill until it begins to set.
  6. Add pitted cherries and marshmallows to the partially set gelatin.
  7. Chill until the salad is firm and ready to serve.
